Wales Veterans Football, have always believed that football is about more than just the game — it’s about community, teamwork, and making a real difference off the pitch. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to share that, together, we have raised an amazing £5,000 for Alzheimer’s Society.
This donation will go directly towards supporting the vital work Alzheimer’s Society does across the UK — from campaigning for dementia to be given the priority it deserves, to delivering essential services that help people living with the condition and their families every single day.
The scale of the challenge is clear:
-
Right now, there are an estimated 900,000 people in the UK living with dementia.
-
By 2040, this number is expected to rise to 1.6 million.
-
The cost of dementia care currently stands at £34.7 billion per year, projected to soar to £94.1 billion by 2040.
One example of how donations make a difference is Talking Point, Alzheimer’s Society’s online safe space. Here, people affected by dementia can connect, share experiences, and support one another. Just £50 allows over 300 people to access Talking Point at any time, day or night.
We are humbled to know that our fundraising efforts will directly support services like this — helping to bring comfort, advice, and solidarity to those who need it most.
A huge thank you goes out to every player, volunteer, and supporter who made this possible. Together, we’re proving that football really can change lives.
